|
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of the encouragement group counseling program on the parenting stress, self-esteem, locus of control, social interest of the mothers of the children with developmental disability. The subjects were 20 mothers of the children with the disabilities in Gwangju, Korea. The experimental group received 8 sessions of the encouragement group counseling program. The data were analyzed with ANCOVA. The results were follows; First, It was effective to reduce the parenting stress. Second, It was effective to improve the self-esteem and social interest. Third, It was ineffective to improve the locus of control. Implications and limitations of this study, and suggestions for further studies were presented.
